Virginia Pleasants Award - $100 to the outstanding accompanist in each category
JUDGES
Judith Civitano Nicosia, soprano, winner Montreal International, regional opera, soloist with orchestras, specialist in contemporary music, recording artist, Master Teacher at 2003 NATS Intern program, Rutgers University faculty.
Marcus Haddock - tenor, leading singer with Paris Opera, La Scala, Bavarian State Opera, Metropolitan Opera, Los Angeles Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, and the Liceu of Barcelona, in addition to many others.
Curtis Tucker – Artistic Director, Opera Saratoga (formerly Lake George Opera), Cincinnati Opera, Mobile Opera, Syracuse Opera, Berkeley Opera, Opera Memphis (premiere of Michael Ching’s Midsummer Night’s Dream) professional premiere of Ned Rorem’s Our Town.
Anne Z. Turner - soprano, Lake George Opera, SPAC soloist, recitalist (including contemporary music), oratorio soloist, guest artist with Boston, Albany, Springifled (MA) Symphonies, NYC Ballet Orchestra, Skidmore faculty.
This competition is open to singers who are residents of, or studying in, NYS and those states contiguous with NYS. Applications may be completed on-line at www.civicmorningmusicals.org, printed & mailed in with supporting materials.

COMPETITION REGULATIONS
1. Contestants must perform within their own age group as of November 19, 2011.
2. Former First Place winners of the CMM Competition may not compete again in the same category.
3. Repertoire requirements (all must be memorized): ♪ An aria from an opera; ♪♪ An aria from an oratorio, mass, requiem, or cantata in the original language; ♪♪♪ One foreign language art song; ♪♪♪♪ One 20th Century American art song composed between 1905-1970; ♪♪♪♪♪ One 20th-21st Century American art song composed between 1971-2011 (date of composition, not publication - please bring a score of the recent American song for the judges). No arr. allowed.
4. The submitted repertoire may be changed but must meet the above requirements. The Committee must be notified of changes no later than one week before the competition.
5. Contestants chosen for the finals will sing a selection of their choice and one American art song. Consult with your teacher/coach in choosing the American songs, since the judges will take that into consideration while judging the finals.
7. Contestants are encouraged to provide their own accompanists. CMM will provide an accompanist for an added fee of $30.
8. Applications must be postmarked no later than October 29, 2011. All must be sent by US mail first-class (certified mail, priority mail, or special delivery will not be accepted). The following items must be included with the application:
q Completed application form. Only complete applications will be considered.
q In addition to the completed application form, a separate, TYPED list of repertoire to be performed indicating titles of operas or oratorios for arias listed, and dates for the American art songs.
q Proof of age (copy of driver’s license or passport)
q A self-addressed, stamped envelope.
q Non-refundable Entry Fee of $25 (plus an additional $30 accompanist fee, if needed), check made out to Civic Morning Musicals.
q If requesting an accompanist, copies of your music that are double-sided and notebook ready.
9. Contestants will be notified of their audition times no later than November 11, 2011.
10. The CMM Vocal Competition reserves the right not to award a prize in a category on the recommendation of the judges.
