RULES AND REGULATIONS

  1. Contestants must be a resident of Cayuga, Chenango, Cortland, Jefferson, Lewis, Madison, Oneida, Onondaga, Oswego, Schuyler, Seneca, or Tompkins Counties.
  2. The contest is open to instrumentalists only in grades 7 through 12.
  3. Contestants must be prepared to play a piece or movement from the Repertoire List FROM MEMORY.
    No alternate repertoire is permitted.
  4. Contestants must provide an accompanist and must audition in person. No tapes permitted.
  5. Winners of last year's Concerto Competition are not eligible to compete on the same instrument.
  6. Repertoire performed by the winners of the previous year's competition is not eligible for the current year's competition. See note at beginning of Repertoire List.
  7. Contestants MUST bring two copies of their audition piece (solo part and piano reduction or score) to the Preliminary and Final Auditions.
  8. At the discretion of the judges, contestants may be interrupted or subjected to time restrictions during both audition rounds.
  9. Parents, teachers, and friends are invited and encouraged to attend. Both preliminary and final rounds will be open to the public.
  10. The decision of the judges in all is final.
  11. You may indicate a time preference for your Preliminary Audition on the application. Your request will be honored if possible. Members of the Syracuse Symphony Youth Orchestra will be given first preference in the event of an SSYO rehearsal conflict.
  12. Entries must be postmarked no later than December 1, 2007. No late entries will be accepted. Each entry must include the following items:
    1. Completed application form, together with teacher certification in one envelope — only completed forms will be considered.
    2. Non-refundable Application fee of $40 made payable to Civic Morning Musicals.
    3. Two self-addressed, stamped envelopes.
