Our Mission Statement

Established in 1890, Civic Morning Musicals is the 3rd oldest such organization producing concerts in the U.S., dedicated to the highest standards in musical performance. We continue to serve the greater Syracuse community by supporting local classically trained musicians of all ages and their potential audiences through a variety of performance, educational, and awards programs.
CMM is dedicated to sustaining and nurturing the cultural climate of Central New York through sponsorship, presentation, and promotion of area artists in concerts and recitals of the highest artistic merit, and through sponsorship and presentation of programs supporting the musical enrichment of area youth. Civic Morning Musicals:

  • Encourages and promotes the highest ideals in musical performance.
  • Encourages the study and performance of American Music.
  • Presents the Central New York community with The Wednesday Recital Series, free of charge in the Hosmer Auditorium of the Everson Museum of Art. (See Calendar of Events)
  • Produces a recital series, Live! at the Everson, which features professional artists with ties to Central New York.
  • Makes CMM-produced concerts available to WCNY for local broadcast.
  • Sponsors and presents the Annual Competition for Singers age 17 to 27 who are residents of New York or surrounding States.
  • Mentors and nurtures gifted and talented young musicians through Junior Pro Art — a process-oriented support program for area student musicians.
  • Presents CMM Awards to high school and college music students active as ensemble and solo performers in their schools and in the Central New York region.
  • Presents annual Community Musical Achievement Awards.
  • Promotes and enriches the cultural ambience of the Central New York region through the successful presentation and execution of all the above.
