From Mozart To Gershwin (Onyx Clarinet Quartet)

April 20, 2022 | 12:15 pm - 1:15 pm

$10

Welcome to Civic Morning Musicals Wednesday Recital Series! We feature the local classical musicians you know and love.

The Onyx Clarinet Quartet presents From Mozart to Gershwin, a program featuring music of Mozart, Gershwin, Sondheim, Debussy, Hiketick, Grainger, Lockhart, Anderson, Bernie, and Pinkard.

Based jointly in Rochester and Syracuse, Onyx is the musical partnership of Laurie Dobmeier, Terryann Gerber and Alan Woy on B-flat clarinet and Roxanne Woy on bass clarinet.
Laurie, Terryann, Alan and Roxanne are veteran music educators who have been connected with each other in a number of different ways for many years. The Onyx Clarinet Quartet was launched in 2010. Since then the group has developed an eclectic repertoire that ranges from classical to popular music, which they have been pleased to share with audiences through New York. Alan is retired from the Crane School of Music, SUNY Potsdam and currently teaches at the Eastman Community Music School and in the New Horizons program. Laurie is retired from the Baldwinsville Schools where she taught instrumental music and currently teaches part time in the Marcellus School District. Terryann is retired from Baldwinsville Schools as well and is an active adjudicator in the state. Roxanne formerly taught music in the Norwood- Norfolk School District and St. Lawrence University. Additionally all four have performed professionally for many years.

CMM (Civic Morning Musicals) exists to support classically trained musicians and their audiences throughout the Central New York region. It is a non-profit, volunteer-run organization, which produces more than 30 concerts a year and sponsors activities for young musicians.
