Sabine Krantz was born in Sweden, and lived in Germany before moving to Norway, where she spent all of her school years. She went to a music high school before being accepted to the Norwegian State Academy of Music in Oslo to study with Geir Henning Braaten, Jiri Hlinka and Sigurd Slåttebrekk. She graduated with a degree in piano pedagogy and performance. She spent a good amount of time outside of school as an accompanist for choirs and solo performances, teaching extra lessons, and directing a children’s choir.
She met her husband (from Minnesota) in Oslo, and they were married in Sweden in 1999, and have since had 4 children. They lived in Minneapolis for 5 years before moving to Syracuse. Ms. Krantz has been a self-employed, stay-at-home mom these last 20 years, and also home-schooled the kids since 2008.
She’s currently keeping a large private piano-and voice studio, and usually plays for several schools in the Syracuse area, including Setnor School of Music juries and recitals, Onondaga Community College vocal repertoire classes and juries, and choral concerts for F-M high school. She has taught choirs in the homeschool community since 2009.
She also plays for NYSSMA, the CMM vocal competition, CNYAMT instrumental competition, and other competitions and festivals in the area. She just finished a Master’s Degree in Vocal Pedagogy at SU in May 2021. She is co-founder of the Syracuse Youth Chorus.
