Born in Tokyo, Japan, Yurie Mitsuhashi started her violin studies at age 3. She moved to the United States in 1998, where she continued her studies with Nurit Pacht, a teacher with whom she would work until 2010. That year, she was selected to perform on From the Top and recipient of the Jack Kent Cooke Young Artist’s Award, funds with which she was able to purchase her own professional instrument; in turn, she performed a set of outreach concerts in the public schools of Fort Lee, NJ, exemplifying the connection between dance and the dance forms of “classical music”. She thoroughly enjoys teaching and, in addition to private instruction, worked with children in the public schools of New Haven, CT through the Yale Music in Schools Initiative program as well as at the Morse Summer Music Academy as a Teaching Artist. This summer, she will be serving as a faculty member at the Lucy Moses School Summer String Fest at the Kaufman Music Center in NYC. Yurie attended the Juilliard School for her undergraduate degree, where she was a student of the late Stephen Clapp and Hyo Kang. She continued her studies with Prof. Kang at the Yale School of Music, where she received her master’s degree this past May.
William Ford-Smith is a professional violist who grew up in Queens, NY. Mr. Ford-Smith received his B.M. from The Eastman School of Music in 2014. He studied under George Taylor, associate professor of viola, and participated in the Honors Chamber Program with the Ying Quartet. While at Eastman Mr. Ford-Smith won the Honors Chamber competition in 2011. He continued his education at the Conservatory of Music at Lynn University and received a Professional Performers Certificate in 2019 while studying with Ralph Fielding, Distinguished Artist in Residence of viola. He attended Kent Blossom Summer Music Festival in the summer of 2011 and 2012 where he was able to play side by side with the Cleveland Symphony. Mr. Ford-Smith has had the opportunity to perform chamber, solo and orchestral repertoire in Europe while attending Assisi Summer Music Festival in 2014 and AIMS Graz in the summers of 2016, 2017 and 2022 . During the summer of 2019 he participated at TMF in Houston, TX. He had a section position with The Symphony of Westchester and has been a recurring substitute for the Binghamton Philharmonic. Following a two year contract with Symphoria and finding a love for the city of Syracuse he is now participating full time in the 2023 season. He has also performed with Civic Morning Musicals, Syracuse Friends of Chamber Music and the Society for New Music in Syracuse’s vibrant music scene.
Pianist Ida Tili-Trebicka has performed throughout the United States, Canada, Europe and Asia, as orchestral soloist, recitalist, and chamber musician, including concerts in England, Holland, France, Italy, Greece, Albania, China, and many others. She has been featured on Albanian National Radio-Television; Italian Broadcasting Corporation RAI; Canadian National Broadcasting Radio; Alba Live; Albanian Culture TV in Manhattan, New York; NPR Radio and Television; WCNY in Syracuse; WBFO in Buffalo; WCCA TV 13 in Boston; and the local station in Binghamton, New York. Winner of the Albanian National Piano Competition, Tili-Trebicka was honored with the Albanian Excellence Award by the president of Albania and the Albanian Excellence Organization. She won the Civic Morning Musicals (CMM) Competition Piano Award and has collaborated in several national and International festivals, most recently at North Carolina Bach Festival, collaborating with several distinguished artists in the U.S. and Europe. In 2016 Tili-Trebicka accepted a SAMMY award on behalf of Society for New Music for the Inova label CD recording of Music Here and Now, where she was a performer. Presented with the Top Teacher Award by the Steinway & Sons, Tili-Trebicka has presented masterclasses in colleges in Europe and North America and judged international competitions, including “Kenget e Tokes” in Albania, Syracuse Symphony/CMM Youth Concerto Competition, MTNA and NYSMTA Piano Competitions, Empire State Competitions, Federation of Piano Teachers, CNYAMT, MTAC Conejo Valley Festimantic, Junior All Star in Rochester, OCMEA, Killian Competition, and others. She has participated in many MTNA Conferences, International Piano Pedagogy Conferences and lately, EPTA Conference in Helsinki, Finland. She a proud honorary member in the International Honor Society of Scholars, Phi Beta Delta, and has received the Ruth Edson Award for Excellence in Piano Performance by CMM. Tili-Trebicka is the co-founder of Forty-Fingers Piano Quartet and Amida Piano-Duo and performs regularly with the groups in the Central New York area. Tili-Trebicka serves on the board of directors for CNYAMT, CMM, and Syracuse Friends of Chamber Music. She received graduate degrees in piano performance from University of Arts in Albania and Syracuse University and went on to study toward a Ph.D. degree in music and humanities at the Maxwell School at SU. She has studied under tutelage of the distinguished pedagogues Nora Cashku, Margarita Kristidhi, Robert Weirich, and others. She was an assistant professor of piano at the University of Arts and Music in Tirana, Albania, and currently is an associate professor of teaching at the Setnor School of Music. Tili-Trebicka is the coordinator of the keyboard area and serves as the graduate student advisor, advisor of the MTNA chapter of Syracuse University, and advisor of SAI, the International Music Fraternity. In 2018 she was honored with the Faculty Excellence Award by the College of Visual and Performing Arts.
