As an artist, Dustin White has a distinct interest in the intersection of Western contemporary classical music and non-Western flute traditions and how musicians can approach such music in an ethical manner. His debut solo album Ri Ra (2021) explores such intersections with Western and Persian and Arabic music. His principal teachers include John Oberbrunner, Kenneth Andrews, and Nina Assimakopoulos.
Jacob LaBarge is a recent graduate of West Virginia University studying under Nina Assimakopoulos. He has worked with distinguished artists such as Jasmine Choi, Wendy Stern, Alberto Almarza, Shanna Pranitis, and Matthias Ziegler. During the summer of 2019, Jacob worked closely with Camilla Hoitenga at the Musiikin Aika Time of Music Summer Academy, in Viitasaari Finland, on the music of Kaija Saariaho and Karlheinz Stockhausen in addition to having a masterclass with Kaija Saariaho.
CMM (Civic Morning Musicals) exists to support classically trained musicians and their audiences throughout the Central New York region. It is a non-profit, volunteer-run organization, which produces more than 30 concerts a year and sponsors activities for young musicians.
